about

Demi Masa is the fifth installment from the highly-regarded Indonesian progressive jazz ensemble, simakDialog, and the follow-up to their initial MoonJune Records' release, 2007's "Patahan" (MJR015). Led, as always, by keyboardist and composer Riza Arshad, this CD features brilliant contributions from guitarist Tohpati and bassist Adhitya Pratama, driven by the spirited percussive thrust of Endang Ramdan and Erlan Suwardana. A palette of diverse influences extend proceedings well beyond the bounds of any genre stereotypes, as the band continues to forge fresh new paths through unchartered territories.Demi Masa offers up a unique cross-cultural brand of progressive music, merging the best of the unique Indonesian jazz tradition with influences ranging from early Return To Forever, to Pat Metheny Group, to Brian Auger and much more. Packed with beautiful moments and some stunning interplay, this strong follow-up release for MoonJune Records furthers solidifies Simak Dialog's place among the world's elite progressive jazz-fusion bands. After being together for over fifteen years, this group shows no signs of slowing down.A fabulous effort from a sensitive, highly-skilled group of musicians whose talents and imaginations know no bounds.
